Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, demons, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of characters who will split off from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear mismatched, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his own means, invading the secret base, striking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as important members in the influential clan could enable the group access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them little choice but to head to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Seekers and Planners parties.
Fans can expect discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
