Ex- Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a ex- physician stands accused of committing assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
List of Charges
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
