Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added.
Officials reported wreckage landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
