Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was natural for concerns to be raised about his position following another convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in twelve games, representing the team's worst streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got significant support from above,” the coach commented.

“It's important to change things and earn three points naturally but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I feel the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Failings and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted recurring shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a period like this with performances like these.”

Jones stated, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And until it is taken away, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to the top, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
