The President Calls Families of Attacked Guard Soldiers to White House
Former President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has invited the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the White House.
He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.
Information on the Tragic Event
US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.
Gatherings across the state have taken place in their remembrance.
White House Offer
The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a White House visit for the families of both soldiers of the state National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump addressed journalists. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Reaction
Attendees assembled over the past few days at a local school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to aid public safety in the capital.
Remembering Beckstrom
“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors wished for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the press. “She was sweet, considerate and always ready to assist people.”
Service plans for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Legal Measures and Policy Changes
Officials have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The incident led the administration to suspend asylum applications and halt providing entry permits to holders of travel documents.
Status of Andrew Wolfe
The airman, a resident of the city, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, per the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Morrisey mentioned on television.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she also intended to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Impact of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with honor, as stated by the state guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had bravery,” Morrisey informed the audience at the service. “Though her life was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
