Top Law Officer Demands Nigel Farage to Say Sorry Over Alleged Antisemitic and Racist Behaviour.

The United Kingdom's top law officer, one of the most senior Jewish ministers, has urged Nigel Farage to issue an apology to school contemporaries who assert he targeted with racist abuse them during their time at school.

Hermer remarked that Farage had "clearly deeply hurt" many people, according to their accounts of his actions as a youth. He added that the politician's "constantly changing" explanations had been less than credible.

“Throughout his replies to legitimate questions, not once has Farage genuinely condemned antisemitism,” Hermer informed a news outlet.

New Allegations Emerge

A recent investigation last month documented the testimony of over a dozen one-time schoolmates of Farage from a private college.

One, a former pupil, described that a teenage Farage "came up to me and growl: ‘The Nazi leader was correct’ or ‘send them to the gas chambers’, occasionally including a long hiss to mimic the sound of the Nazi gas chambers”.

Another student of colour claimed that when he was about nine, he was subjected to similar treatment by a 17-year-old Farage.

“He walked up to a pupil with two tall mates and spoke to anyone looking ‘other’,” the individual said. “That involved me on three occasions; questioning me where I was from, and motioning, saying: ‘That’s the way back,’ to wherever you replied you were from.”

Following the initial report, additional individuals have emerged; around two dozen people have now stated they were either victims of or saw deeply offensive conduct by Farage.

The alleged events they outlined cover the period when Farage was aged 13 to 18.

Denials and Shifting Positions

The political figure has denied that anything he did was "blatantly" racist or antisemitic, and has claimed the individuals were not telling the truth.

Observers have pointed out that Farage has failed to condemn antisemitism and other forms of racism in a wider sense in his responses.

They also cite his inability to discipline a colleague in his party, Sarah Pochin, after she complained about the number of ethnic minorities she saw in television commercials. She later expressed regret for the remarks.

“Nigel Farage’s constantly changing story about his behaviour to his Jewish classmates [is] not credible, to say the least,” Hermer commented.

He continued: “Claiming that a group of people have all misremembered the same things about his offensive behaviour simply is not believable."

Demand for Accountability

“If he wishes to be seen as a credible figure for the top job, he must confront the concerns of the Jewish community, and say sorry to the many people he has clearly deeply hurt by his behaviour,” Hermer concluded.

“Bigotry in all its forms is abhorrent to the principles of this country and we should not let it to ever become accepted in society.”

In a different discussion, a senior politician said Farage should “speak out” if he wanted to look like a real leader.

“It is very telling how little he has to say, and the guarded phrasing that both you and I would recognise as being crafted in a particular way to say something, but also dodge the issue,” she remarked.

Formal Denials and Subsequent Comments

In formal correspondence prior to the release of the investigation, Farage’s legal team asserted that “the allegation that Mr Farage ever was involved in, approved of, or led racist or antisemitic behaviour is completely refuted”.

Farage later seemingly shifted his position in an discussion, saying: “Have I said things decades ago that you could interpret as being playground talk, you could interpret in a contemporary context today in some way? Perhaps.”

He said that he had “never directly really tried to go and harm anybody”. Farage subsequently issued a further comment: “I can tell you categorically that I did not say the things that have been published aged 13, decades in the past.”
