Ukraine has announced the start of large-scale manufacturing for a new domestically developed interceptor drone to strengthen its aerial protection systems. The first three manufacturers have begun production, with 11 more preparing to establish assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials announced this past Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Proven in Combat Conditions

The drones will be based on a nationally created technology known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Iranian-made drones. The system has been tested in actual battle and demonstrated effective “during nighttime, amid electronic warfare and at low altitudes,” officials confirmed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established an ambitious goal of producing up to 1,000 defensive drones each day.

Recent Attack on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate

The Ukrainian president characterized Russia’s latest attack against Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and wicked” following six individuals lost their lives and many others wounded in a wave of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Alert systems activated in the capital just after midnight this past Friday, with Shahed drones soon detected overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukrainian air defences.

The president stated the nation was targeted by hundreds of UAVs and multiple missiles. Those killed were inside their residences in an apartment building on Kyiv’s left bank during the strike. Dozens of other buildings sustained damage, among them the Azerbaijani embassy.

Diplomatic Protest Following Embassy Destruction

The Azerbaijani government said it delivered a strong protest to Moscow's diplomatic representative on Friday after the embassy damage. Russia plans to manufacture as many as 120,000 guided aerial bombs in the current year, a senior Ukrainian intelligence official said, among them 500 of an innovative, extended-range model that can reach more towns and cities. Russian forces have been launching 200 to 250 glide bombs per day, with last month’s daily average being approximately 170, based on official military statistics.

Ukrainian Strikes Target Russian Oil Facilities

Russia’s Black Sea port of Novorossiysk halted for a period oil exports this past Friday – representing two percent of global supply – following a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Ukraine’s general staff stated its military had fired Neptune cruise missiles and used various types of strike drones in the assault against Novorossiysk “as part of efforts to reduce the strategic capabilities of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukrainian forces additionally struck a processing plant in the Saratov area and a fuel storage facility in nearby Engels overnight.

International Sanctions Affect Moscow's Oil Producer

Russia’s second-largest energy company Lukoil said on Friday it is negotiating with potential buyers regarding its international holdings after last month’s restrictions from Western nations and failure of an agreement with the Gunvor trading house. “The specific deal are to be disclosed once conclusive negotiations are completed and required authorizations are secured,” Lukoil commented.

Ukrainian President Plans Diplomatic Trip to Spain

Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit the Spanish capital, the Spanish capital, on Tuesday to meet with lawmakers following his trip to France, the chamber of deputies disclosed. The Ukrainian president will convene with representatives from all houses of parliament during his visit, the Spanish statement said.
